In order to create a non-threatening, positive STEM focused learning environment for my students. I will put up a few posters of the main math and science problem solving strategies that the school has adopted and I will keep a prominently displayed word wall with new vocabulary that we learn and accompanying pictures to offer students guidance as to the vocabulary they should be practicing while discussing lab questions etc.
I will arrange seating in a way that students will be able to stay focused and have a clear view of my lab bench and the front board while I am offering new content knowledge or they are working independently, but will arrange seating so that students will be able to easily transition into pair or group work in various configurations (to mix up groups and not have students always working with the same parnter(s) when required for certain lab activities.
